Gouri, a documentary filmmaker takes a journey along with her friend. She is trying to collect material for her documentary project on instrumental music. They go to a village with the help of a schoolteacher. They travel to meet an instrumental musician, who has gone some place elsewhere to give a performance. Both are forced to stay in the village till the musician returns. Film tries to capture the human attitude when they are placed in a condition/situation/environment which is familiar and at the same time unfamiliar. As the seemingly simple yet complex situations develop, how these characters fits in to a landscape and climate as much mental as physical. A young Tamil woman, grappling with unknown tensions in her four year long marriage, develops a complex relationship with her new neighbor, a middle-aged man, who has a mysterious past of his own. This relationship soon begins to unravel many secrets, which change their lives forever. Set in the fascinating city of Kolkata, the film tries to explore themes such as guilt, redemption and female sexuality in the context of an Indian marriage.

VIJAY  JAYAPAL

Self taught Independent filmmaker from Chennai, Vijay has sofar made four short films and a handful of corporate videos, PSA and TV Commercial. His 2014 short The Surreal was showcased at Cannes Short Film Corner 2014 and had also travelled to a few other festivals. His subsequent shorts Meelpaarvai (Retrospect) and Matrimony have also travelled to quite a few festivals. Vijay has just completed his debut Tamil/English feature film Revelations.

Victor Benjumea was born in Tarragona in the summer of 1970. He began his interpretative training at age 31 in Barcelona. During that period he made more than 20 short films and after finishing his studies he moved to Madrid where he began his professional career. His debut in the cinema and first great opportunity soon comes from the hand of Fernando Colomo, who chooses to play Cristobal in the film “The Near East.” We have been able to see him in TV series such as: “Amar en tiempos revueltos”, “Los hombre dePaco”, “Sin tetas no hay paraíso”, “El internado”, “Aguila Roja”, “Gavilanes”, “Cuéntame”, “Con el culo al aire”,  among others and in feature films such as:  “La habitación de Fermat” and “Los ojos de Julia”. He has participated in more than 40 short films and continues to collaborate with important producers at the national level.

Born in Madrid in 1976, he holds a BA in Journalism and Advanced Studies Degree in Film History from UAM. Journalist specialized in cultural contents has developed his work for different media such as the newspaper “Federación” (CC.OO), the magazine “Muy interesante”, “Onda 6 TV”, the Mexican magazine “Cine Premiere” Correspondent in Spain between 2004 And 2014) or, currently, the supplement “Metropolis” of the newspaper “El Mundo” and the newspaper “Gara”. Member of the editorial staff of the San Sebastián International Festival newspaper, he is also coordinator of the San Sebastián de los Reyes Film and Human Rights Program since 2013.

Catalan actress settled in Madrid, studied in the schools La Casona, Nancy Tuñón and Eolia.

In television, we have seen her in numerous series such as “Arrayán”, “El cor de la ciutat”, “La dársena de Poniente”, “Hospital Central”, “Diarios del miedo” …

She has also participated in several films such as “Crossing the Border”, “Pixel Theory”, “Train station”, “Everything ends at the end of the day”, “Viral”, …

In the theater scene, she has performed in works such as “The house of Bernarda Alba”, “The red road of Sabaiba”, “The last I pay yo”, …

Soon we will be able to see her in the television series “I would like”, of Divinity, and in the film “The necklace of salt”, of the director Vicente Pérez Herrero.

HOTEL SALVATION, Dir. Shubhashish Bhutiani | India | 2016 | 102’ An ominous dream convinces 77-year-old Dayanand Kumar that his end could be near. He takes the news to his son Rajiv, knowing he wants to breathe his last in the holy city of Varanasi and end the cycle of rebirth, by attaining salvation. Being the dutiful son he is, Rajiv is left with no choice but to drop everything and make the journey with his stubborn father. Daya and Rajiv check into Mukti Bhawan (Hotel Salvation) in Varanasi, a guesthouse devoted to people who want to die there. But as the days go by, Rajiv struggles to juggle his responsibilities back home, while Daya starts to bloom in the hotel. Rajiv gives his father a shot at salvation but as family bonds are tested, he finds himself torn, and not knowing what he must do to keep his life together.

SHUBHASHISH  BHUTIANI

He is a writer and director. Known for Kush (2013), Hotel Salvation (2016), and The Star (2012).

Kush is a short film set in the year 1984 around the anti-Sikh riots after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film revolves around a school picnic where a teacher is trying to protect Kush, the only Sikh child in the group from the violence around him.

Directed by debutante Shubhashish Bhutiani, Kush has won several awards at prestigious film festivals including the Best Short Film Award at the Venice Film Festival and the National Award in 2013. The same way Hotel Salvation has been at Venice.
