PROFILE

Director, screenwriter and moving-image artist working across feature films, shorts, experimental cinema, branded content and game visuals. His practice explores narrative, space, the body and lived experience, as well as the translation of cinematic language across media.

FILM PROJECTS

Dec 2023-2025 | CAA Pictures, Guest Director  Executive Director and Editing Supervisor on the feature film Raindrops on a Roof, selected for A Window on Asian Cinema at the 30th Busan International Film Festival and the 9th Pingyao International Film Festival. In 2024, directed and wrote the 16 mm short YO, YOYO!, presented at the Cannes Short Film Corner and the Venice Biennale.

2019-2022 | Feature, Short and Experimental Film Projects  Assistant Director and Director of Photography on the feature Manyou (漫游), selected for film festivals in Berlin, Busan and Hong Kong. Executive Director and Screenwriter of Narcissus (水仙花), winner of Best LGBT Short at the Rome Short Film Festival. Additional works include Letter from the Future (未来信) and No War in the Northwest (西北无战事).

2018-2020 | Midday Hill Film, Co-founder / Director / Screenwriter  Created Child of the Night, No War in the Northwest, Night Lit Up the Night, A Folk Song and Victory Farm. Victory Farm received the Graduation Film Gold Award from the Film Department of the China Academy of Art; Wushan Community was selected for the Xiamen Shuangqi Art Film Festival.

CROSS-MEDIA PRACTICE

Oct 2021-Sep 2023 | NetEase Games (Hangzhou), Senior Game Video Director  Created cinematics, CG sequences and promotional films for Once Human, Where Winds Meet and Rangers of Oblivion. Integrated cinematic storytelling, shot design and editing into game visuals; received the NetEase Games Art Innovation Award in 2022.

Jun 2019-Aug 2021 | Cavity Sea Film, Co-founder / Director  Directed branded and art films with a cinematic visual language for clients including NetEase Cloud Music, NYLON, NOWNESS, Guangheyuan and VOICER. Also contributed to Zhijiang International Youth Art Week and the IDF West Lake International Documentary Festival.
