THISSA SURENDRA is a nationally and internationally award-winning Sri Lankan film editor and colourist whose creative practice extends across cinema, photography, and design. As an editor, his work is shaped by a close understanding of performance, rhythm, silence, and cinematic time. As a colourist, he works with light, tone, texture, and colour to define the visual atmosphere of each production. His filmography includes feature films, short films, teledramas, documentaries, and other screen-based work. Beyond cinema, Tissa works as a photographer and designer, exploring composition, light, form, and visual storytelling through both still and moving images. These connected practices have shaped a distinctive artistic approach that moves naturally between the editing room, the photographic frame, and the designed image.

Alongside his professional practice, Tissa serves as a visiting lecturer at universities, film institutions, government organizations, and private-sector institutions. Through lectures, workshops, and professional training programmes, he shares his knowledge of film editing, colour grading, photography, design, and post-production practice with students, emerging filmmakers, and industry professionals.
His work has received significant international recognition, including the award for Best Editor for The Singing Pond (Ho Gaana Pokuna) at the 2016 SAARC Film Festival. In addition to this international accolade, his exceptional contribution to film editing has earned him recognition at all major national film awards in Sri Lanka, including the Sarasavi Film Awards, SIGNIS Film Awards, Hiru Golden Film Awards, and Derana Film Awards.
