Saransh Sharma wins Best Music Award at Imagineindia 2025

Sharma wins the Award for the film Humans in the Loop (Aranya Sahay) India.

Saransh Sharma is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Pune, India. Working under the moniker Khwabgah, his music blends organic soundscapes with textured electronic production—often drawing from his ambient, post-classical, and downtempo influences.
Born in 1995, Saransh hails from Shahpur, a small town in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Growing up, his musical world revolved mostly around Hindi film music.
“I remember discovering Linkin Park sometime in my teenage years. It really opened up my mind to a world of sounds. I still love film music, but the idea that music could convey more than love and longing was new to me.”

He studied engineering at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, where he also picked up the guitar and began playing in cover bands. Later, he pursued an MBA from Symbiosis, Pune and entered the corporate world.
“It was during the pandemic that I discovered music production. That one could simply do it all – on a computer!”
He began learning music production while continuing his full-time job. Eventually, after spending half a decade in the IT industry, he transitioned into music full-time – a long held desire. Guitar, piano, synthesizers and field recordings form the basis of many of his pieces—built on layers that feel intimate, tactile, and reflective. Saransh tends to start with simple sketches—often a few chords on the guitar or a melody on the piano.
These raw, unpolished moments are where he finds the emotional core of his music. From there, he layers textures and subtle electronics, shaping pieces that feel more like songs than productions, always grounded in a human touch.

For Humans in the Loop, we aimed to create a subtle bed of sound that would allow the emotion to unfold naturally. Every time we leaned toward overt melodies, it felt like we were intruding on the film’s simplicity. It’s a quiet story, and it needed quiet music— something honest and restrained. This was also my first experience scoring a film, and with it came a lot of valuable learning. Blending Oraon folk music with electronic elements was one of the most fun and rewarding parts of the process.
