Hyun-woo became even more worried about the health of the child in his wife Ji-eun’s womb after she suddenly collapsed. However, Ji-eun’s firm decision to keep the baby put Hyun-woo in an even more difficult position. At the hospital, he encountered a young boy who was also suffering from illness. Feeling the boy’s pain, Hyun-woo ended up obtaining a drug that could induce a miscarriage from him. Initially planning to secretly end the child’s life, Hyun-woo had a change of heart in the face of Ji-eun’s sincere maternal love and ultimately stopped her from consuming the food containing the drug.

The story is based on an online friend of mine who has suffered from severe gastritis since childhood, often to the point of contemplating ending her life due to the unbearable pain. This led me to think from her perspective: if her child were also at risk of developing the same illness, would she be willing to let them endure the same suffering? Parents are always willing to give everything to protect their children, but from the perspective of a child who has not yet matured, such sacrifices can sometimes feel like a burden or even a form of torment. This difference in perception can widen the gap between them, leading to growing misunderstandings. However, the moment when the child finally understands their parents and the conflicts are resolved is often the very moment when familial love heals all the pain.
