A Piece of Meat is a film which showcases the period of 3 generations – 80’s, 2000’s & 2024.

3 daughters of the same family lineage, born in these 3 different eras, carry forward a traditional family recipe of “Kosha Mangsho”. With carrying that recipe forward, they also carried forward few nuances of their mother’s with them, when the current generation’s teenage daughter asks a pertinent but a curiousity filled question, it makes the older generations (mothers) think to ponder about a lot.

Director Varun Khettry was born in Kolkata, India and grew up in a town nearby, Jamshedpur, after which studied in a couple of boarding schools in the heartland of the country which gave him an opportunity to be exposed to the vast diversity of India. And the love for films & stories from childhood made him decide to pursue filmmaking instead of studies that he was struggling with tremendously. In one of life’s inspiring moments after watching the Indian film “Rang De Basanti” (2006), Varun decided to move to Mumbai after the 10th std. at a tender age of 18. After stuggling for a while, he got an opportunity to work in various departments specially as an Assistant Director in films like “Udaan” (2010), India’s official selection to that year’s Uncertain Regard section at Cannes. And the other films he worked on were Rock On (2008) which won various National & Filmfare awards, followed by Luck By Chance & Kai Po Che which got a lot of national & international critical acclaim. And over 60 T.V commercials as an assistant director. A Piece of Meat is his directorial debut under his own production house “Little Stream Films”.
