The sixteenth edition of Imagineindia International Film Festival will take place from 17th to 31st of May, but due to the large number of films selected the festival also exhibits in April and June. Ninety-four films from 21 countries distributed in 9 sections at 8 venues of the festival : Filmoteca Española, Cineteca, Casa Asia, La Casa Encendida, The Travel Brand Xperience, Función Lenguaje, CC Lavapiés y La Tabacalera. More than 2,800 films have registered to participate in this edition.

The festival began in April with a series of films by the director Shyam Benegal about women in India. Benegal is one of the most important director in India and some of his films will be rescheduled in May.

Another important Indian director is Adoor Gopalakrishnan, who will be honored this year and will have his films shown at the Spanish Filmoteque.

India’s national television in collaboration with PSBT participates with 3 films, as do national film institutes (FTII, SRFTI) or national universities (TISS).

Imagineindia has always been characterized by its social vision, promoting secularism, pluralism, democracy, equal opportunities, human rights, women’s rights … and trying to create social sensitivity in our society.

The presentation of the festival will take place on May 10th at 12.00 at The Travel Brand Xperience with the participation of numerous Spanish artists: Gran Wyoming, Sergio Pazos, Nerea Garmendia, Alba Ferrara, David Marques, Alfonso Albacete, Yolanda Font, Mayte Ariza, And Jaime Iglesias Gamboa, among others.

The festival will conclude on May 31 with the Closing Gala at the Spanish Filmoteque and the presence of numerous personalities from Spanish cinema.
