Javier Paxariño, jury at Imagineindia 2016

The musician Javier Paxariño will be Jury Member of Imagineindia 2016. Will participate along with other leading figures of Spanish  cinema like Ángela Molina, David Serrano, David Marqués, Isabel Ocampo etc.

The saxophonist and flutist Javier Paxariño, born in the city of Granada, moved later to Malaga, where he first studied music at the Conservatory of music with the master Artola. He begins in music with jazz and rock bands in the 1970s and created at the end of that decade the Group Onyx jazz quartet which had a high local impact, although they did not record. At this time he also began experimenting with ethnic flutes to introduce them in his music.

In 1980, and now in Madrid, plays in the iconic Whisky Jazz club and the no less legendary the Cova del Drac de Barcelona. At the same time he continues his musical training and attends seminars on music, such as Thad Jones Seminar in Banyoles. He participated in the 20 jazz festival of Las Palmas in 1982.  Professor in workshops for musicians from Madrid and played as freelance in various bands.

He collaborated on recordings of many musicians (Kevin Ayers, Joan Bibiloni, Gerardo Nuñez, Miguel Ríos, Joaquín Sabina, Luis Eduardo Aute, Victor Manuel & Ana Belén, Pablo Guerrero, Luis Pastor, etc.). Parallel to this Javier Paxariño Group formed his own group in which only played his own compositions and in 1988 recorded their first album Inner Space, with a very good reception by critics, and presented it in the festival of jazz of Madrid together with Oregon group.

He collaborated in the recording of the documentary series Indico for TVE, and also with the composer Alberto Iglesias for films like Cows (awarded in Japan), La Ardilla roja (awarded the premio Goya).
