People of Pune says about Mula Mutha river that “It is not a river,it is a sewage stream”.This statement stayed with me for a long time and I wanted to explore the story behind it. I was also very much fascinated by the origin story of Mula Mutha river and I felt that the plight of Mula Mutha river is a modern day folk tale where a river’s cry for help remains unnoticed by humans and Gods. People whose livelihood were once dependant on this river are now jobless and they are almost in the same critical situation as the river. I wanted to bring forward their story who boldly tells that how this river is being killed every day.

Maqbool, an honest and kind-hearted elderly cook working on a fuel supply tanker, becomes the target of suspicion by the ship’s ambitious second-in-command, Helmsman, who dreams of becoming the Captain. When the ship halts at the port for repairs, Helmsman seizes the opportunity to engage in fuel smuggling in the absence of the captain. Meanwhile, Maqbool forms a caring bond with Noora, a street child living near the port. Upon hearing rumors of theft, the shipowner arrives unexpectedly. Impressed by Maqbool’s cooking and against Helmsman’s objections, he allows Noora to stay onboard as Maqbool’s assistant. But soon, in a cunning twist, Helmsman frames Noora for the fuel theft, leading to a harsh trial of Maqbool’s trust, compassion, and moral courage.

Multiartist Aline Amike, nominated for Best Actress at Imagineindia 2025

Aline has been nominated for Best Actress for the film Minimals in a Titanic World (Philibert Aimé) Rwanda. The film of Philibert Aimé has got 4 Nominations at the festival.

Aline Amike is a Rwandan multilingual actor, writer, and fashion designer whose work bridges storytelling, performance, and craftsmanship. She played the lead role in Minimals in a Titanic World, which premiered at Berlinale 2025 alongside her twin sister, Alice Amike, and was featured in Variety as one of the rising actors to watch. Her earlier roles in The Bride (Berlinale 2023) and Father’s Day (Berlinale 2022) drew critical acclaim, with the latter earning her the Best Actor award at the Gran Canaria Film Festival. She was selected for Berlinale Talents in 2024 and has also performed on stage in Poetik P, a Swiss theatre production that highlighted her range as a live performer.

Vinod Kapri (born 15 August 1972) is an award-winning filmmaker , author and former Television Journalist . He won the prestigious national award for his debut film Can’t Take This Shit Anymore in 2014.
He made his feature debut with “Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho” (2015) – a socio-legal satire that received extensive critical acclaim. Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho, a social-political satire inspired by true incident in Rajasthan, was received critical acclaim from some quarters. The film earned rave reviews from the likes of Amitabh Bachchan , Raju Hirani and National Award-winning director Madhur Bhandarkar.
