Therese Malvar, Jury for Best Actress at Imagineindia

Therese Malvar is an acclaimed Filipino actress who began her career with a breakout performance in Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita (2013), directed by Sigrid Bernardo. The film premiered at the CineFilipino Film Festival and received a Special Mention at the Osaka Asian Film Festival. Her performance earned her a Gawad Urian nomination for Best Actress, establishing her as one of the most promising talents in Philippine cinema.

Her exceptional work has garnered international acclaim, including the Silver George for Best Actress at the Moscow International Film Festival and the NYAFF Screen International Rising Star Female Award for her role in Hamog (2015), directed by Ralston Jover. In 2018, she made Philippine history at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival by winning the Best Supporting Actress award for two films in the same year: Distance and School Service.

Recently, Malvar reunited with Sigrid Bernardo in Pushcart Tales (2023), further solidifying her reputation as a versatile performer. As a GMA Sparkle artist, she has also starred in multiple television shows, broadening her reach and showcasing her range across various mediums.

Beyond acting, Malvar is also carving a path as a producer. Her recent work includes This is How Her Home Was Built (2023), an experimental short film directed by Jaime Morados, created in collaboration with Engage Media and the award-winning production boutique Archipelago, advocating against historical distortion and revisionism. She continues to collaborate with Morados on upcoming projects, including Searching for Sol, which is currently beginning its festival run.

In addition to her collaborations with Voyage Studios, led by Baby Ruth Villarama, Malvar is currently working with This Side Up Productions. Through these ventures, she remains dedicated to creating films that capture raw, authentic human experiences while exploring new creative horizons in the world of filmmaking.
