Doina, a 12-year-old girl, has her first period on the day her grandma has a stroke. Since then, their roles are inverted. When Doina’s dad considers taking grandma to a nursery home, the girl has to prove to him that she is mature enough to take care and keep her only mother figure close to her.

ELENA VATAMANU MARGINEANU

Elena Vatamanu-Mărgineanu was born in 2002 in Chișinău, Moldova, in a family of filmmakers. At 19, she moved to Poland to study Cinematography and Post-Production at Warsaw Film School. In 2023, Elena received two awards for her first short film “Reflections”: Best Debut Award at EDUKINO International Film Festival, Poland and Best Short Film at Rabat International Author Film Festival, Morocco. ”First last month” is her second film that she wrote, directed, shot and edited herself.
