Nimisha Sajayan wins Second Best Actress Award for The Great Indian Kitchen at Imagineindia 2021.

Nimisha Sajayan (born 4 January 1997) is an Indian actress in the Malayalam film industry. Nimisha made her acting debut with the film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum directed by Dileesh Pothan. She won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress in 2018 for her performance in Oru Kuprasidha Payyan and Chola.

She had got critical acclaim for her performance in other movies such as Eeda (2018), Stand Up (2019), The Great Indian Kitchen (2021), Nayattu (2021) and Malik (2021).

Nimisha was born in Bombay to Sajayan, an engineer and Bindhu Sajayan, both originally from Kollam district of Kerala. Her mother’s ancestral home is in Punalur, Kollam district.

Nimisha did her schooling at Carmel Convent School, Mumbai and was graduated from KJ Somaiya College, Mumbai. She holds a black belt in Taekwondo. She represented Maharashtra in Taekwondo national competitions. She got the black belt when she was in 8th standard.

Nimisha debuted her acting career with the film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, directed by Dileesh Pothan. She portrayed the character Sreeja, the female lead. She then played the lead role in editor B. Ajithkumar’s directorial debut Eeda produced by filmmaker Rajeev Ravi. She won the 49th Kerala State Film Award for Best actress in 2019 for the movies Oru Kuprasidha Payyan directed by Madhupal and Chola directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan. She was noted for her role in Chola. It was premiered at several International film festivals.

In 2021, she portrayed a strong role in The Great Indian Kitchen. She played as a newly wed woman who struggles to be the submissive wife that her husband and his family expect her to be. The movie as well as her performance in it was critically acclaimed. The same year, she played lead roles in Nayattu and Malik. Both movies were critically acclaimed. Her upcoming movies are Thuramukham and Oru Thekkan Thallu Case.
