Sunflowers Were the First Ones to know… is folklore from the subcontinent of rural Karnataka, India. Usually concerned with the themes of fate and destiny, this Oral tale persists as a common idiom of expression among people. A folktale is a poetic text that carries some of its cultural contexts within it; it is also a traveling metaphor that finds new meaning with each new telling. The film reflects the repertoire of ‘stories about stories, a meta-fiction where the burden of stories is transformed and has its own weight, will, and rage.
