She has won the Best Editing Award along with Bakyt Mukul for the film Deal at The Border (Dastan Zhapar Ryskeldi) Kyrgystan.
Nazgul Omurzhanova (born in 1999 in Kyrgyzstan) is a film editor and filmmaker whose work bridges emotional storytelling with poetic visual rhythm. She graduated from Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University with a degree in Communication and Media Studies, specializing in Radio, Television, and Cinema.
Nazgul began her career at the Kyrgyzfilm National Studio and has since collaborated with various independent film companies and production studios in Kyrgyzstan. Her work spans both narrative and documentary cinema, often exploring themes of memory, family, and the connection between people and nature.
Her editing is known for its sensitivity, atmosphere, and emotional depth. Among her notable works are Salbuurun, Umay, and A Sky of My Childhood. Her most significant project to date is Kachkyn, a feature documentary that continues to shape her approach to storytelling and visual rhythm.
Nazgul continues to work as a film editor while developing her own documentary projects that reflect her interest in human stories and the landscape of her home country.
